Job Description Principal Manufacturing Engineer /n/n BUSINESS:
Aerospace & Defense /n/n/n/n We are seeking a Principal
Manufacturing Engineer to join our Hauppauge team. This role will
act under the general supervision of the Manufacturing Engineering
Manager on multiple assignments of complex nature and broad scope.
Signification dotted line relationship will exist with Design
Engineering Management. /n /n As a Principal Manufacturing
Engineer, the candidate will be a part of a dynamic team to design
and develop manufacturing processes for new and legacy product
lines. This includes but is not limited to process improvements,
tooling, test fixturing, manufacturing instructions, capital
planning/specification/selection/approval, TAKT time optimization,
direct labor forecasting, labor content reduction, problem-solving,
and next-generation concept development and demonstration. /n /n
The Principal Manufacturing Engineer will closely work with program
management as well other site and group functions regarding
manpower, cost, and scheduling needs. The position will also
provide marketing and sales support as required, including leading
proposals and customer presentations. /n /n You Will: /n /n -
Contribute to NPI at the earliest stages of pursuit to forecast
technology fit, readiness level, prototype and production
investment requirements, labor content, facility layout and
manufacturing NRE – critical to ensuring accuracy and
competitiveness of new business proposals and new business wins. /n
- Influence direction and drive implementation and extension of
additive manufacturing strategy for both NPI and production /n -
Continually improve manufacturing methods/systems and process/
product improvements to optimize product performance and reduce
manufacturing costs. Identify, design, implement, and evaluate
improvement opportunities. /n - Determine specific requirements of
manufacturing operation to specify equipment, fixture, and process
parameters. /n - Collaborate on design with Engineering, Supply
Chain, and supply base to introduce best cost product/process
combinations for NPI. /n - Provides production floor and assembly
support in technical matters relating to assembly drawing
interpretation, engineering change notices, rework, manufacturing
difficulties, and specifications. /n - Compiles and evaluates test
and production data, prepares technical analysis, and recommends
manufacturing methods and processes required to meet design
objectives on new or improved products and/or processes. /n -
Provides support in the development, modification, and evaluation
of manufacturing operations. /n - Provides input to plans, process
specifications and procedures, production aids and assembly
fixtures, factory work standards development, and the like. /n -
Ensures successful completion of the assigned tasks within the
budgeted time and cost constraints. /n - Ensures that the quality
policy and quality system is understood, implemented, and
maintained at all levels of the organization. /n - Develop plans to
evaluate process repeatability and stability through equipment
qualification and process validation. /n - Applies six sigma
methodologies as appropriate. /n - Performs other related duties as
required. /n - Support formal reviews with suppliers, customers,
and other functions within the organization /n - Report on projects
and initiatives progress as required /n - Communicate effectively
with all layers of the organization as required /n - Provide
technical leadership and supports growth initiatives execution /n -
Other duties as assigned /n /n /n You Have: /n Knowledge, Skills &
Abilities /n /n - A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in
the development, installation, testing, analysis, certification,
and design of aerospace components is preferred. /n - Experience in
designing/analyzing components, assemblies, and tooling with high
precision tolerances. /n - Working knowledge of Mechanical and
Electromechanical assemblies. /n - Direct experience working with
A&D product line. /n - Experience in technical writing (work
instructions, reports, etc.) with attention to detail for
formatting, consistency, and thoroughness. /n - Proficiency in 3D
CAD modeling, assemblies, and drawings (SolidWorks / Autodesk
Inventor). /n - Proficiency in MS Excel (formulas, lookup
functions, etc.) /n - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret
reference manuals, engineering standards, and vendor component
catalogues. /n - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
/n - Positive attitude and ability to collaborate with all
operational disciplines. /n - Knowledgeable in lean manufacturing
principles and six sigma methodologies. /n - Electric Motor and
Pneumatic/Hydraulic Valve assembly and test experience. /n -
Knowledge of visual programming languages a plus (LabVIEW,
Simulink, etc.) /n - Knowledge of Electromechanical components and
PLC troubleshooting /n - Previous experience with aviation or
medical equipment qualification processes is desirable. /n - Six
Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Lean certification a plus /n -
Experience in project management /n - Proficient in financial and
statistical analysis /n - Solid analytical skills and
solution-driven thinking; collects and researches data; uses
intuition and experience to complement data. Make good decisions
based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.
/n - Strong project management skills, including the ability to
prioritize, balance, and manage multiple efforts with strong
results/goal orientation. /n - Experience leading others /n -
Proficiency with fluid and stress analysis tools (i.e. Ansys)
considered a plus /n - Program management experience is desirable

Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Mechanical, Aerospace, or
Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university
required and 10 years of related experience. related disciplines
will be considered based on the type of experience of the
candidate.
